Treatment

Veneers

Veneers are thin shells bonded to the front of your teeth. Your dentist uses veneers to change the colour, shape and alignment of your smile.

Procedure

Your dentist examines your teeth and plans the shade and shape with you. Your dentist prepares the tooth surface and takes a scan or mould. Temporary veneers protect your teeth while a lab makes the final set. Your dentist then bonds each veneer in place. Most plans take 2 to 3 visits.

Recovery

Expect mild sensitivity to hot and cold for a few days. You return to normal activity straight away. Brush and floss daily. Skip biting hard objects such as ice and pens.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are veneers made of?
Veneers use porcelain or composite resin. Your dentist explains the difference for your case.
Porcelain veneers often last 10 to 15 years with good care. Composite veneers often last 5 to 7 years.
Most veneers need a thin layer of enamel removed. The step is permanent. Your dentist keeps preparation to a minimum.
Local anaesthetic numbs the teeth during preparation. Most people feel little discomfort.
